When it comes to the best metaphysical stores for those interested in witchcraft, the occult, or manifestation, Los Angeles has some of the best in the world.
California, especially Los Angeles, is a place that people come who are interested in spirituality and manifesting their dreams and desires. It’s home to a lot of Burners, a lot of witches, and many who just love spooky things. Perhaps that’s why I’ve lived here for almost two decades.
Why there are so many great witchy stores in LA? Maybe it’s because Los Angeles has a rich history in the strange and unusual. For instance, JPL co-founder Jack Parsons had a connection to Aleister Crowley, Manly P. Hall started the Philosophical Research Society in Los Feliz, and Paul Foster Case created the Builders of the Adytum in LA.
Whatever the reason, there are many metaphysical stores within Los Angeles where you can go for great tarot readings, guidance, ritual tools, and at most of them you can take classes on witchcraft, paganism, and the occult.
Whether you want to do Low or High Magick, here are the ones I think are the best. They are not ranked in any particular order. FYI: If you don’t have a metaphysical store near you, many of these will work with you remotely and ship to you.
1. The Crooked Path
The Crooked Path is one of my favorite stores for witchcraft supplies and knowledge in Los Angeles. It’s run by Italian witch Sal Santoro and his wife Popi Mavros. They carry all the essential ritual tools (athames, chalices, wands, mojo bags, candles, etc.), tarot cards, crystals, and plenty of books to use to practice witchcraft.
And, while the Crooked Path‘s collection of Damascus athames are lovely, the shop really shine when it comes to their apothecary. If you’re looking for a particular herb or blend for your next spell, there’s a high likelihood they have it.
In addition to what they carry, they also host Wheel of the Year events, Golden Dawn meetings. a witchcraft 101 course which I highly recommend, and courses on runes, magic, and more.
Finally, there is a large public temple to Hecate upstairs with haunting paintings by local artists. If you worship the goddess, you can go there to pay respects.

2. Tarot Arts
It took me a long time actually visit this charming South Pasadena tarot shop as I was always going by when they were closed. But, timing finally aligned, and I’m so glad it did because I’ve never seen so many tarot cards in one place.
If you’re fascinated by the tarot, Tarot Arts is the spot you want to visit in Los Angeles. They carry over 100 decks including some rare ones, have regular talks and classes about tarot, and the owners are friendly, very knowledgeable, and passionate about the cards.
They even have a table in the middle of the back room where you can sit with and admire (or connect) with the decks before deciding which ones to take home.
Where: 1017 Mission St., South Pasadena, CA 91030
When: Wednesday – Sunday (11-8, except Wednesdays 11-7, and Sundays 12-6)
3. House of Intuition
Yes, it’s a chain. I know. But, go to the House of Intuition‘s original location in Echo Park and you’ll usually find it has a less woo-woo vibe than their other stores. You’ll find it on Sunset Boulevard at the the top of grey stairs adorned with the seven planets and the words Your Intuition Led You Here.
While they aren’t as well stocked when it comes to ritual tools as some of the other shops on this list, their incense blends and spell candles are no joke. And, if you can book an appointment with their resident metaphysical expert and witch Ryan Trinh, prepare for a straightforward, powerful reading sometimes accompanied by a spell or ritual to follow to get what you want.
Where: 2237 W Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90026 (and other locations)
When: Monday – Sunday (11-7)
4. The Green Man
The Green Man Store, also located in Burbank, and is filled with all the essential tools you’ll need for witchcraft and magic and also has a well-stocked apothecary.
The energy inside the Green Man tends to be on the lighter side and has a distinctly pagan bent. (Note the store’s name) They encourage you take your time to find the herbs or tools that feel best to you. They also serve as a community gathering space as they hold classes and circles each month as well events for each Wheel of the Year holiday.
Where: 824 N Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91505
When: Tuesday – Sunday (12-7, except Sundays 12-5)
5. Pan’s Apothika
You might have heard of Pan’s Apothika before. After all, it has been around since 1971. Now located in East Hollywood, Pan’s Apothika used to be located in Hollywood and called Panpipes. And, at one point, it was co-owned by Fariuza Balk, best known for her role as Nancy Downs in The Craft.
Owner and witch, Miss Vicky makes excellent custom spell candles on the spot and her prices are not astronomical. And you get to pet her adorable pup Vincent while you wait. She’s also got a small, but highly curated collection of books on witchcraft and the occult to browse or purchase.
If candles aren’t your thing, Vicky also can other custom spells for you in the form of incense, conjuring oils, mojo bags, and more.
Where: 4856 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029
When: Tuesday – Sunday (11-6, except Sundays 11-4:30)
6. 22 Teachings
If you are interested in Hermeticism or the Golden Dawn, there is no space I could recommend more in the city than Naha Armády’s 22 Teachings. Armády made a name for herself when she was worked at the House of Intuition as she became known as one of the best tarot readers in Los Angeles.
Her tarot readings are fantastic. But, her store is a gathering place for mystics, Golden Dawn practitioners, and anyone interested in High Magick. And, every Saturday, the space is open for the Arborteum Mysticum Lodge, a “self-initiatory occult Lodge of High Magic in the Western Mystery Tradition. It is the magical working group of the 22 Teachings school.” It is open for any and all to attend.
Because they’re more a school than a store, they offer a staggering amount of classes (most of which are available online) as well as charged objects Armády has gathered during her travels. The shop is only open before and after classes and by request, so text before heading over.
Where: 900 1st St, Suite 312, Los Angeles, CA 90012
When: Saturdays (11-1 and before and after classes and services)
One more store to consider:
7. Spellbound Sky
I cannot personally vouch for Spellbound Sky as I haven’t personally been there, but many people in Los Angeles love the shop and its friendly co-owners Mark and Martin.
Here’s what I can honestly say: their Instagram content is great and if you’re looking for a spot that has a ton of crystals, you’ll love it. Also, apparently they now have obsidian bats, so I guess I will be visiting shortly.
